Create new layers of colors over the existing ones and have them all show with this easy technique.

SUPPLIES

• water container
• palette or plastic plate
• paper towels
• sandpaper
• painter's tape
• petroleum jelly
• #12 stencil brush
• #2 flat brush

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Wipe down the chair with a damp paper towel.

2. Use a #2 flat brush to basecoat the entire chair with Timeless. Rinse brush.
3. Use petroleum jelly or paraffin wax in areas you want the paint to show through.

4. Use #2 flat brush and Heritage to paint the top of the chair back, the seat, and the support on the legs. Rinse brush.

5. Use sandpaper to light rub over the areas you see the petroleum jelly showing through to expose the layers. Do not rub too hard or you will get down to the original color or raw wood. (Unless this is the look you are going for.)

6. Wipe the chair down with a clean paper towel.
7. Position the French Inn Stencil on the center of the seat and use painter's tape to hold it in place.
8. Use a #12 stencil brush with Timeless to paint on the stencil. Repeat for desired intensity. Rinse brush.
9. Use sandpaper to lightly sand over the stencil and all Timeless areas. Wipe down with a damp paper towel.
10. Use #2 flat brush to apply Ultra-Matte Varnish to the entire chair to seal.
