    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Apply White Gesso to the entire piece with a palette knife. Let dry.
    2. Dip the paintbrush in two colors at a time, the left color being Cobalt Teal Hue and the right color being Titanium White. (This is a floating technique.) Paint in the wings and head. Move the paintbrush back and forth so that the colors don't get muddy, but have a nice ombre look.
    3. Instruction #2
    4. Mix Yellow Green Light and a small amount of Cobalt Teal Hue. Load one side of the brush with the mix and the other side with Titanium White. In horizontal stripes, repeat the floating technique from step 2 on the belly of the owl. Add a section of the same mix to the top of the owl's head.
    5. Load the 1/2" flat brush with Quinacridone Magenta and Titanium White. Go in circles around the eye with the floating technique. Paint the tail feathers with the same colors and technique. Paint in the beak with Quinacridone Magenta and a #5 round brush.
    6. Paint four small chipboard hearts. Paint three in Quinacridone Magenta using the floating technique with Titanium White. Let dry. Once dry, add dots, stripes, and diamonds to the hearts. Paint one heart in Cobalt Teal Hue and add a Titanium White chevron pattern. Mix together Quinacridone Magenta, Cobalt Teal Hue, and a small amount of Titanium White to create a purple. Paint some letters for the sentiment on the stomach in the mix and some letters in Quinacridone Magenta.
    7. Add dots of Titanium White onto the eyes and heart shape with the handle end of the paintbrush. Paint in the eye with Titanium White. Let dry. Once dry, paint the iris Carbon Black. Using a liner brush and Titanium White, add scallops for feather details and highlights to the eyes and nose.
    8. Instruction #6
    9. Use a ruler as a guide to place the desired sentiment. Once in position, adhere the letters using E6000 Glue.
    10. Instruction #7
    11. Using a liner brush, free-hand eyelashes in Carbon Black.
