Posted by DecoArt on Feb 14th 2019
Decorate your Kentucky home with a wooden sign made with Americana Decor Color Stain®.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- sandpaper
- wooden stars
- black marker
- E6000 Glue
- paintbrushes
- dry rag
- rustic sign
INSTRUCTIONS
- Sand the entire surface of the sign.
- Paint the sign in Navy and wipe it back with a dry rag, keeping the natural wood grain intact. (Do this panel by panel so that the paint does not dry to the point where it cannot be removed.)
- Map out the wording with a fine point black marker and then paint the words in Lamp Black.
- Paint some of the stars in Warm White. Mix Warm White and Slate Grey to make a very light grey color, one that has little contrast to the Warm White, and paint the remainder of stars in this mix.
- Glue the stars to the surface of the sign using E6000 Glue in the shape of the state, alternating between the Warm White and the light grey painted stars.
