SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • soft cloth
    • painter's tape
    • 1" flat brush
    • bisque hanging plaque
    • fan brush
    • 1/2" stencil brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

When using the fan brush, load the brush with paint, then wipe off most of it to create dry-brushing.

    1. Wipe the plaque surface down with a soft cloth to remove any dust and debris. Remove the hanging cord. Basecoat the back of the plaque using a 1" flat brush and Carbon Black.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Mix (4) parts Titanium White with (1) part Primary Magenta to create a pink mix. Use the mix to basecoat the front of the plaque, using downward strokes with a 1" flat brush.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Dip the fan brush into Quinacridone Violet, then drag the paint from the edges of the plaque inward. Turn the piece and do this all the way around. Pull the paint from corner to corner, making random "x" lines. (Refer to photo.)
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Repeat the previous step with Primary Magenta.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. To finish the background, repeat the previous steps using Carbon Black. (Be sure to touch up the edges at this time, to get a solid Carbon Black border.)
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Center the Americana Inspiration Stencil in the middle of the plaque. Use painter's tape to hold in place. Using Titanium White and a stencil brush, apply the stencil. Let dry. Once dry, tie the hanging cord back onto the top of the plaque.
