Mother's Day Card with Texture

This card, made with Americana Decor Texture™, will surely brighten Mom's day.

SUPPLIES

    • scissors
    • ruler
    • pencil
    • masking tape
    • tracing & transfer paper
    • palette knife
    • watercolor paper
    • paintbrushes

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Measure and cut a 4" x 4" piece of watercolor paper; spread on Rose Gold (Metallic) on the paper with a palette knife.

    2. Allow to dry. (This will be used for cut-out shapes later.)

    3. Print off and transfer the provided hand and flower pattern onto a folded piece of watercolor paper. (The hand and flowers can also be drawn.)

    4. Cut masking tape into a house shape and stick onto the palm of the hand.

    5. To give a watercolor effect, first paint the area around the hand with water. While the area is still wet, use a wet brush to mix a tiny bit of Bahama Blue with water and touch the wet paper with the color.

    6. Keep adding Bahama Blue around the hand until the area is covered to your preference.

    7. Using the same technique as STEP SIX, add Royal Fuchsia to the hand and flowers.

    8. Add Coral Blush to the hand.

    9. If needed, paint Light Buttermilk over the darker areas to lighten.

    10. For the vines and leaves, paint with Matcha Green.

    11. Add Coral Blush to the flowers.

    12. To give dimension, add Light Buttermilk to the edges of the flower petals and Bahama Blue to the leaves.

    13. When paint is dry, remove the masking tape.

    14. Add masking tape to the outer edges of the house shape.

    15. Add another piece of masking tape on the inner edge to create a line. (See photo for placement.)

    16. With a palette knife, add Rose Gold (Metallic) to the line formed with the masking tape.

    17. Continue around the shape of the house. Remove the tape while paint is still wet to get a clean shape.

    18. Cut out drop shapes from the paper painted with Rose Gold (Metallic) in STEP ONE.

    19. Attach the drops to the card with Matte Decou-Page.

    20. Paint the inside of the house with Matcha Green and Bahama Blue. Allow to dry.

    21. Cut out two small hearts from the painted texture paper.

    22. Attach the hearts with Matte Decou-Page.

    23. For the inside, write a loving note to Mom: Paint the words with Bahama Blue. Add vines painted with Matcha Green. Paint several flowers with Royal Fuchsia, Coral Blush, and Light Buttermilk. Cut out two different size of hearts. Attach the hearts with Matte Decou-Page. Allow to dry completely.
