Mixed Media Spring Bouquet Canvas

Welcome spring, or any season, with a sunny flower bouquet made with DecoArt Media®.

SUPPLIES

    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • scissors
    • pencil
    • liner brush
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • #8 round brush
    • canvas
    • palette knife
    • white paper

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Trace the flower pattern with a pencil onto the white paper. Add tiny drops of paint throughout in Pyrrole Orange, Primary Magenta, Titanium White, and Hansa Yellow Medium. Use a palette knife to spread the various paint colors vertically. (Vary the colors as you wish.) Use scissors to cut out the flowers.

    3. Using a #8 round brush, loosely paint stripes in Primary Magenta, Pyrrole Orange, and Titanium White. (Vary the colors as you wish.)

    5. Using a 3/4" flat brush, paint the entire canvas in Blue Green Light. Let dry. Using a 3/4" flat brush, paint the entire canvas in Green Gold and immediately splatter with water. Let set about two minutes and pat dry with a paper towel. Using a flat brush, paint the bottom third in Blue Green Light. Using a 3/4" flat brush, loosely paint the perimeter in Primary Magenta.

    7. Using a pencil, trace the vase onto white paper. Add tiny drops of Cobalt Teal Hue, Green Gold, and Titanium White. Use a palette knife to drag the paint colors horizontally. Cut out with scissors. Use a 3/4" flat brush and Matte Medium to adhere the vase and flowers to the canvas. Mix Titanium White with Primary Magenta 2:1 and use the mix to paint the flowers' rosy cheeks.

    9. Use a liner brush to paint the flowers' eyes in Cobalt Teal Hue and Phthalo Turquoise. Use a liner brush to paint their mouths and outline the leaves in the vase in Phthalo Turquoise. Use a liner brush to paint the leaves in Cobalt Teal Hue and outline them in Phthalo Turquoise.
