- Craft Mat
- Tissue Paper
- Water Spritzer
- Palette Knife
- Heat Tool
- Selection Of Vintage Style Stamps
- Paper Trimmer
- Scissors
- Foam Pads
Instructions:
Step 1: Select your substrate, I am using an MDF panel measuring 8x8.
Step 2: Paint the MDF panel in a base layer of Chalky Finish Enchanted, ensure a good even coverage.
Step 3: Take a brayer, and brayer over the panel in a layer of Chalky Finish Lace to give a mottled effect. Use a craft mat to smooth out and pick up your paint on the brayer.
Step 4: Add a wash over the panel surface of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Titanium White, use a wide flat brush. If your wash is a little dark, just spritz with water to lighten.
Step 5: Take the papers you wish to use and lay them out on the panel to try out your design. Once you are happy with the layout, take a photo for reference.
Step 6: Glue your papers using Decou-Page Matte glue, apply with a wide flat brush and spritz the papers with a little water to make them more malleable.
Step 7: Brayer and wash over the panel again knock the paper back, making the papers become part of the background.
Step 8: Using a selection of vintage style stamps, stamp your panel with vintage sepia ink. Add 2nd and 3rd generation stamping to give a lighter look and remember to stamp off the edges of the panel to give a more natural look.
Step 9: Add texture to your panel by applying a layer of Heavy Gel Medium, roughly, using a palette knife. Once dry, repeat this step using Crackle Paste.
Step 10: Add a light wash in patches of Metallic Gold, as well as splatters of gold in areas. Edge the panel in Gold too.
Step 11: To finish, add a paper butterfly embellishment. Paint the embellishment in a layer of Interference Gold and add details to the wings using Liquid Glass. Mount on foam pads to the top right of the panel.
