Living the Greek Life College Cooler

You'll be the BWOC when you bring this colorfully decorated cooler to a campus gathering.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • ruler
    • pencil
    • 1" flat brush
    • #2 round brush
    • #8 flat brush
    • 1" painter's tape
    • household cleaner or rubbing alcohol
    • cooler

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Clean the cooler with a household cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Let dry completely.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Use a 1" flat brush to mix a lot of (1) part Red Barn with (1) part Pink Cadillac. Use mix to paint the cooler lid. Rinse brush. (Save this mix for a future step.) Use the same brush to mix (2) parts Cotton Ball with (1) part Steel Grey. Use the mix to paint one side of the cooler. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Coastal Waters to paint the front of the cooler. Rinse brush.

    5. Use a 1" flat brush to mix (1) part Cotton Ball with (1) part Lemon Zest. Use the mix to paint the other side of the cooler. Rinse brush. (Save this mix for a future step.)

    7. Use painter's tape to protect the edge around the lid. Use a #2 round brush and Steel Grey to paint a loose Ikat diamond pattern. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Overcast to paint a smaller loose Ikat pattern in between the larger pattern. Rinse brush.

    9. Use a pencil to lightly trace and transfer the words pattern over the Ikat pattern. (Try to center the pattern as best as you can.)
    10. Use a #8 flat brush and Coastal Waters to fill in the word "GREEK". Rinse brush. Use a #2 round brush and Red Barn/Pink Cadillac mix from step 2 to fill in "Living the Life" and outline the word "GREEK". Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Coastal Waters to shade behind "Living the Life". Rinse brush.

    12. Use a #2 round brush and Cotton Ball to paint a loose triangular pattern on the Cotton Ball/Lemon Zest side. Rinse brush.

    14. Use a #8 flat brush to fill in triangles with: Red Barn/Pink Cadillac mix; Flamingo; Coastal Waters; Lavender Fields; and Blue Lagoon. Rinse the brush in between colors and at end.

    16. Use a pencil to trace and transfer the herringbone design to the front of the cooler. Use a #2 round brush and Steel Grey to lightly outline the pattern. Rinse brush.

    18. Use a #8 flat brush and Steel Grey to fill in the herringbone pattern. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.

    20. Use a pencil to trace and transfer the rose pattern over the herringbone pattern. Use a #8 flat brush and Pink Cadillac to basecoat the roses. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.

    22. Use a #2 round brush and Red Barn/Pink Cadillac mix from Step 2 to outline roses. Rinse brush.

    24. Use a #2 round brush and Cotton Ball to highlight the roses; paint dots randomly; and outline the herringbone pattern. Rinse brush.

    26. Use a pencil to trace and transfer the clouds pattern onto the Cotton Ball/Steel Grey side. Use a #2 round brush and Coastal Waters to outline clouds loosely. Rinse brush.

    28. Use a #8 flat brush to fill in clouds separately using Steel Grey; Lavender Fields; Cotton Ball; Cotton Ball/Lemon Zest mix from step 3; and Red Barn/Pink Cadillac mix from step 2. Rinse the brush between colors and at the end.
    29. Use a #2 round brush to add Cotton Ball to clouds and to switch color combos around to add designs in clouds. On the bottom cloud, use Blue Lagoon to add stripe design. (See photo below.) Rinse brush in between colors and at end.
