Posted by DecoArt on Sep 6th 2020
The canvas cosmetic bag and transfer fabric for this project are both available for purchase from the artist, Judy Ribitch.
Items Needed:
- Galaxy Glitter 2 oz - Clear Ice Comet (DGG18-30)
- Water Basin
- Fine Point Sharpie
- Palette Paper
- Canvas Cosmetic Bag 9 X 5 1/2
- Transfer Fabric
Instructions:
Prep
The canvas bag does not require any prep. Trace the pattern onto the transfer fabric using a ballpoint pen. Position the tracing on top of the bag. Trace the pattern again using the Sharpie marker. The ink will go through the fabric and onto the bag.
Work one section at a time. When doing fabric painting you should work the paint wet into wet. It makes it much easier to blend your colors.
Lips
Fill the inside of the mouth with Black Tie. Base the lips with Flamingo. While this is still wet, add shading with floated Lipstick. Add the highlight with Vanilla Shake. This is streaked on. It may require a second application after it has dried. It tends to settle into the fabric. Add fine lines of lipstick to bottom lip using your liner.
Hearts
The hearts are based with Lipstick. Shading is added to the left side with floated Dark Scarlet. Highlight with floated Vanilla Shake. Add a comma stroke of Vanilla Shake to the upper right using your liner brush.
Lipstick Tube
The lipstick section is based with Flamingo. Shaded is added with floated Lipstick. Add highlights in the center with Vanilla Shake.
The actual tube is based with Silver (top section only). Shading is added with floated Black Tie. Add the highlight with Vanilla Shake. The bottom section of the tube is based with Coastal Waters. Add shading with floated True Blue. The center is highlighted with Vanilla Shake. Add dots with Vanilla Shake.
Blush
The bottom section of the jar is based with Coastal Waters. Add shading with True Blue. Highlight the center with Vanilla Shake. Lettering is added with Black Tie.
The lid is based with Silver. Add shading with floated Black Tie. Highlight the center with Vanilla Shake.
The Brush
The handle is based with Brown Sugar. Shade both sides with floated Bittersweet. Add a highlight in the center with Vanilla Shake.
Bristles
The bristles are based with School Bus Yellow. Shading is streaked on using your angular brush. Starting at the base of the bristles, pull streaks of Cocoa Bean. Deepen this shading with pulled strokes of Bittersweet. Pull the highlight from the tip into the bristles with Vanilla Shake. This may have to be done a second time. Keep the edge wispy so that it looks like hairs.
Ferrule
Base coat the ferrule with Silver. The shading is added with floated Black Tie. Highlight the center of the ferrule with Vanilla Shake.
Apply a coat of Clear Ice Comet to the hearts. Glue on rhinestones here and there. Enjoy!
