Lion Family Paper Plate Puppets

The kids will have loads of fun, first making, then playing with these lions painted with Americana® Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • craft glue
    • tissue paper
    • craft sticks
    • paper plate
    • embellishments
    • medium and small flat brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Use a medium brush to paint three of the paper plates, two in Saffron Yellow and one in Coral Blush. Let dry. Cut out two crown shapes and ear shapes from the fourth paper plate. Adhere the ears to the plates with craft glue and paint in the same color as the plates. Cut out two crown shapes from the fourth paper plate; use a medium brush to paint one in Baby Blue and one in Wild Orchid.

    3. Use a small brush to paint the details of the lion's face and ears: the cheeks and ears in Royal Fuchsia and the nose in Baby Blue.

    5. For the King Lion, cut squares of orange tissue paper; crumple up; and glue to the back of the plate with craft glue. For both the king and queen, adhere the crowns with craft glue. Finish off by adhering buttons for eyes and faux gems on the crowns with craft glue. To finish adhere straws or craft sticks to the backs of the plates as holders.
