    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Stain all edges of the crates that will be visible. (You don't have to worry about the top or bottom.) Line the crates up on a smooth, flat surface and begin screwing them together on the sides of each crate.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Use at least two screws on the top and bottom where the crates meet each other and the front and back as well. Apply each screw in a toenail direction to give the crates more support.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Cut the posts to 48" each and stain. To attach the posts for the sign, pre-drill holes at the bottom and top of the outside crates, going through the post as well. (This will keep the posts from splitting when you attach the screws.)
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Attach the screws to secure the posts. (You can do more than two, but really, only one at the bottom and one at the top of the outside crates is necessary. Make sure that you attach the posts at the back of the crates.)
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Paint the slats with White Wash and Coral Blush, alternating the colors. (Don't paint them perfectly. You want a slightly rough look.)
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Measure the top of the crates and add 1.5" for the thickness of the posts. Cut the 1" x 12" board to this length.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Cut out rectangles on the corner of the board to fit around the posts, using a jigsaw or handsaw. Test-fit the board before attaching to the crates.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. The counter board should line up with the back of the crates and overhang the front of the crates.
    16. Instruction #8
    17. Attach the counter board to the crates by first applying wood glue to the tops of the crates and then screwing in through the counter into the tops of the crates. Stain the board and seal with Gloss Spray Finish to give the counter a weather-resistant coating.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. Tip the stand on its back so you can easily attach the sign board to the posts. (Be sure to pre-drill the holes for the screws again so you don't split the boards.) Attach two screws on each side, top, and bottom of the sign.
    20. Instruction #10
    21. Whitewash the board using White Wash, coating it roughly.
    22. Instruction #11
    23. Cut out the Silhouette file on vinyl to create a stencil for the sign. Attach it to the sign, centered.
    24. Instruction #12
    25. Paint the lemons using Primary Yellow, and the wording using Coral Blush. (Use a stencil brush and make sure the vinyl is stuck to the wood in all places to avoid bleeding.) Remove the stencil promptly after painting. Let dry.
    26. Instruction #13
    27. Once the sign has dried, spray it with sealer to protect it.
