Jack-O'-Lantern in The Mirror Wall Art

Get into the Halloween mood by making a decoration that reflects the spirit of the day.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- tracing paper
- transfer paper
- rubbing alcohol
- sandpaper
- scissors
- pencil
- 3/4" flat brush
- #8 round brush
- scrapbook paper
- ornate mirror
INSTRUCTIONS
- Take the mirror apart and roughly sand. (Uneven and streaky looks even creepier.)
- Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the frame Lamp Black.
- Trace the jack-o'lantern pattern onto scrapbook paper with a pencil and the tracing and transfer papers. Using a 3/4" flat brush, basecoat in Cadmium Orange Hue. Using a #8 round brush, add shadows in Quinacridone Gold.
- Use a #8 round brush to paint the top stem in Green Gold and add a shadow with Quincridone Gold. Use a #8 round brush to paint the eyes, nose, and mouth in Carbon Black. Use a #8 round brush to add highlights to the eyes in Hansa Yellow Light.
- Use a #8 flat brush to paint the outfit in Titanium White, Medium Grey Value 6, and Green Gold. Outline in Carbon Black. Paint loosely to show the brush-strokes and let the colors blend. (Refer to photo for color placement.)
- Place the glass from the frame over the Americana Decou-Page Metallic Type Paper; trace with pencil and cut with scissors. Use a 3/4" flat brush to lightly paint over the paper with Dioxazine Purple, using plenty of water for transparency. Use a 3/4" flat brush to adhere the head and body to the paper with Matte Medium. Use a #8 round brush and Hansa Yellow Light to add highlights to the eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Use a 3/4" flat brush and Matte Medium to adhere the painted image to the mirror. Place the mirror in the frame and re-attach.
