"I'm Just Me" Oval Mixed Media Art

Celebrate your individuality with mixed media wall art made with Americana® Stencils.

SUPPLIES

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • scissors
  • 3/4" flat brush
  • #8 round brush
  • #8 flat brush
  • black ink pad
  • scrapbook paper
  • stamps
  • oval wooden plaque

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Using a 3/4" flat brush, paint horizontal stripes on the plaque in Cobalt Teal Hue and Cobalt Turquoise Hue.
  2. Using a #8 flat brush, paint stripes around the perimeter in Cobalt Teal Hue and Cobalt Turquoise Hue.
  3. Use a pencil to trace the girl's face onto scrapbook paper and cut out with scissors. Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the face with Cobalt Teal Hue, adding plenty of water to make it transparent. Use a #8 round brush to paint the eyes in Titanium White and Burnt Sienna, and the lips and rosy cheeks in Primary Magenta.
  4. Use a 3/4" flat brush to adhere the face in place with Matte Medium. (Refer to photo for placement.)
  5. Use a #8 round brush to paint the hair in Cobalt Turquoise Hue and the dress in Dioxazine Purple.
  6. Mix Titanium White with Dioxazine Purple 2:1 and mix Titanium White with Cobalt Turquoise Hue 2:1. Use these color mixes to stencil the words "I'm just me". (Shown: Distressed Alpha Stencil) (Refer to photo for placement.)
  7. Randomly stamp throughout the plaque with a stamp of your choice and a black ink pad.
