INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Paint color placements will change depending on the shapes your home creates. Have fun picking which colors to place where!

  1. Working in a well ventilated room, follow the wood grain to sand the entire surface with a fine sandpaper. To remove sanding dust, wipe clean with a slightly damp paper towel or lint free, soft cloth.
  2. Instruction #1
  3. Gather the Americana Acrylic colors from the Soft Color Pack to be used in this project along with some brushes from the Designers Brush Sets: a base coat flat brush, small flat brush, and liner brush.
  4. Instruction #2
  5. Using the large flat brush, paint the interior of the wood panel with Pistachio Mint Americana Acrylic.
  6. Instruction #3
  7. Paint the sides with Coral Blush Americana Acrylic. Allow to dry and if necessary, apply a second coat of each color. Allow to dry completely. (TIP: lightly sand after the first coat has dried and wipe away sanding dust before applying second coat.)
  8. Instruction #4
  9. Print out the picture of the house you will be painting. Cut out the perimeter of the house. (TIP: Make sure the size of the print fits into your wooden panel properly.)
  10. Instruction #5
  11. Disassemble the Stencil-on-a-Ring to spell out "est." and the year you are adding. Place the house cut out and the stencils where you would like them. With a white color pencil trace the letters/numbers stencils.
  12. Instruction #6
  13. Using a ruler, trace the perimeter of the house template cut-out.
  14. Instruction #7
  15. From the house template, continue to cut out shapes found in the picture of the home. For example: the garage doors, windows, front door, etc. Start from the bottom and work your way up.
  16. Instruction #8
  17. As you cut out each shape, trace it onto the wood using the straight edge and white color pencil. (TIP: Keep using the original house perimeter that you traced as a guide for placement each time.)
  18. Instruction #9
  19. Using a liner brush, paint the words/numbers with Zinc Americana Acrylic. Allow to dry.
  20. Instruction #10
  21. Using a small flat brush, paint Bluegrass Green onto a preferred shape. I chose the roof shape. Paint the window shapes with Cadmium Yellow Americana Acrylic.
  22. Instruction #11
  23. Paint more shapes using a flat brush and Shoreline Americana Acrylic.
  24. Instruction #12
  25. Continue to paint shapes with Baby Pink and Wisteria Americana Acrylics. (I also decided to paint the front door shape and an upper window shape using the Zinc and a liner brush.)
  26. Instruction #13
  27. Use Vivid Violet to paint any other shapes left on your home. Allow colors to dry and add a second coat onto each shape using the appropriately sized brush. Allow to dry. (TIP: add a picture hanger to the back to hang.)
  28. Instruction #14
