SUPPLIES

Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™ Paint

  • Everlasting (ADC01)
  • Honor (ADC41)
  • Romance (ADC06)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • paper towels
  • ruler
  • pencil
  • #6 filbert brush
  • screws (less than thickness of pallet wood)
  • #1 bristle flat brush
  • screwdriver
  • circular saw (or hand saw)
  • pallet wood
  • drill with bit for predrilling
  • rag

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Measure and cut the sign out of the pallet wood. (I used 4" wide pieces of wood...see measurements in the photo below...and a circular saw to make the cuts. if you don't have a circular saw, you can use a hand saw. The angle is 45 degrees.)
    Step 0 Example
  2. Place the cut pieces together to make sure they line up correctly.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Flip the wood over and secure thin pieces of wood on the back with screws. (Make sure the screws are not too long, as you don’t want them to go through the front of the home plate.) Pre-drill the holes before you pit the screws to eliminate the wood from splitting.
    Step 2 Example
  4. Brush on Everlasting over the entire sign and then wiped off excess with a rag. (I like the look of some of the wood showing through.) Paint the sides of the wood as well.
    Step 3 Example
  5. To create the laces, pencil sketch the curved lines and use Romance to create the look. Refer to photo.
    Step 4 Example
  6. Free hand draw the word HOME and paint it with Honor. (I used pencil, so I could erase easily.)
    Step 5 Example

HELPFUL HINTS
