Glistening Holiday Angel Light-Up Table Décor

Other supplies

  • water container
  • paper towels
  • stylus or pencil
  • scissors
  • 1/2" flat brush
  • 1/4" flat brush
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • 1" foam brush
  • fake moss
  • pinecones (small)
  • battery-operated tealight
  • embellishments of choice (small ornaments; poinsettias)
  • fine glitter (red and green)
  • scrapbook paper (patterned)
  • metal shape (angel, with lights)
  • basswood shape (oval)
  • batteries (size appropriate for angel lights)

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Clean the metal angel with a damp paper towel.

  2. Paint the outer edges of the angel in Dark Scarlet.

  3. Paint the angel with a coat of Antique Gold, allowing some of the Dark Scarlet to show through. Paint the front of the angel in Antique Gold. Let dry. Once dry, dry-brush Cotton Ball onto the front, allowing some of the Antique Gold to show through.

  4. Add batteries for the lights. Make a cover for the back of the angel by tracing the angel with a pen onto patterned scrapbook paper. Use scissors to cut out the angel from the patterned paper.

  5. Attach the patterned paper angel to the back of the angel for sizing. Take off the paper backing and paint tabs in Dark Scarlet. Let dry. Once dry, re-insert the backing.

  6. Paint the oval basswood slice with two coats of Holly Green.

  7. Using a 1/4" flat brush, paint pinecones in Dark Scarlet and Holly Green. While still wet, sprinkle with red and green glitter.

  8. Lay out moss where it will be glued down. (Don't adhere yet). Leave space for the angel and the tealight. Begin laying out all desired embellishments (such as small ornaments or poinsettias).

  9. Once the elements are laid out as desired, adhere into place using a hot glue gun. Glue all elements except the angel and tealights.

  10. Apply Americana Matte Decou-Page in areas where you would like Gold Glamour Dust. Sprinkle on the Glamour Dust while the Decou-Page is still wet.
