  • 1-2" brush

  1. Choose a wooden piece of furniture with a flat front.
    Step 0 Example
  2. If possible remove any hardware. Sand the piece to remove any sheen.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Give the piece 2-3 coats of Pure White Satin Enamels paint.
    Step 2 Example
  4. Find an otomi pattern online. Using an online grid maker, print out the image across 9 sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper and tape together to make a 'blown up' version of your otomi pattern.
    Step 3 Example
  5. Tape carbon paper to the back of your otomi print out and center onto your piece of furniture.
    Step 4 Example
  6. With a sharp pencil, trace over the outline of the otomi pattern.
    Step 5 Example
  7. With detail brush, fill in the pattern with Satin Enamels in Metallic Pewter.
    Step 6 Example
  8. Recoat if needed. The piece shown here only has one coat of paint so the brush strokes are more evident. If a darker, more opaque, finish is desired, give the otomi pattern a few different coats.
    Step 7 Example
  9. Repeat on front and either side. There's no need to replace the carbon paper... one piece should work for three sides of the piece of furniture.
    Step 8 Example
  10. Replace hardware and clean up any smudges by painting over with pure white. (The hardware on this piece did not remove.)
    Step 9 Example
