Tombstones of Halloween

Enshrine some Halloween fun into party dècor with MagiKote™ Styrofoam Coating and Americana® Acrylics.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- #3 round brush
- 3/4" flat brush
- sea sponge
- black Sharpie® marker
- hand-sander or sandpaper
- fan brush
- four Styrofoam sheets (thick and thin)
- Styrofoam cutter
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Use a black marker to draw the tombstones and sayings on each Styrofoam sheet.
- Use a Styrofoam or box cutter to cut out the tombstones and add cracks to them as desired.
- Use sandpaper or a hand-sander to smooth out the edges.
- Use a Styrofoam or box cutter to carve sayings and designs on the tombstones.
- Apply a thin layer of MagiKote on each tombstone using a fan brush.
- Let dry completely and sand each tombstone entirely. Apply MagiKote and sand again. Repeat until the desired smoothness. For a smoother finish, after two coats, use a 3/4" flat brush to apply MagiKote
- When the tombstones are completely dry, basecoat them Slate Grey using a 3/4" flat brush.
- Mix (1) part Staining/ Antiquing Medium with (1) part Celery Green. Make a separate mixture of (1) part Staining/Antiquing Medium with (1) part Dark Chocolate. Double-load a sea sponge with both mixtures and dab around the tombstones for a moss-covered look.
- Use a #3 round brush with Lamp Black to fill in the words and designs.
