Spiders dance on this mixed media canvas for Halloween in colors of the season.

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Tear a piece of text-printed scrapbook into small pieces. Work in sections by applying Americana Crystal Glitter Decou-Page, positioning the pieces, and applying another layer of Decou-Page on top. Repeat until the whole canvas is covered.

2. Brush on diagonal stripes of Cadmium Orange Hue, Diarylide Yellow, Green Gold, Dioxazine Purple, and Titanium White. (Do not blend Green Gold and Dioxazine Purple too much or else a brown color will be created.) Paint Carbon Black on the sides of the canvas.
3. Stamp several spiders onto white tissue paper with a black ink stamp pad. Cut or tear around the spiders. Use Decou-Page to adhere the tissue-paper spiders to the canvas as desired.

4. Position the Americana Doily Stencil in the top right corner of the canvas. (If needed, use painter's tape to keep the stencil in place.) Using a palette knife, apply Black Modeling Paste to the stencil. Carefully remove the stencil while still wet. While the paste is still drying, sprinkle on a generous amount of black glitter. Allow the paste to dry completely before continuing.

5. Use a ruler and black pen to draw lines from each point of the doily through the center all the way around.

6. Use a liner brush with Carbon Black to paint over the lines previously added. Extend each point approximately 1/2" and add two scallops between the points. Use the liner brush to add strings down to each of the place where there is a spider.

7. Use a circle punch to cut out three 3" circles from patterned scrapbook paper. Paint the paper with Diarylide Yellow. Paint the edges of the circles with Cadmium Orange Hue.

8. Use Decou-Page to adhere the circles onto the lower left corner of the canvas, creating a pumpkin shape. Cut a strip of green cardstock 1/8" wide and curl it around a pencil. Fold the curl in half and adhere it behind the center circle of the pumpkin. Let dry. Once dry, use Carbon Black to draw on a face of your choice onto the pumpkin with a liner brush.

9. Apply a strip of black Washi masking tape in the upper left corner of the canvas.
10. Use a Silhouette machine to cut out "HAPPY HALLOWEEN" in a font and on paper of your choice. (Cut the lettering approximately 1-1/2" tall.) Use Decou-Page to adhere the letters to the canvas. If desired, add more spiders as previously done. (See photo for lettering placement.)

11. Use a white gel pen to trace around the letters for "HAPPY" and a black permanent marker to trace around "HALLOWEEN".
12. Cut one piece of craft wire 12" long. Thread a large and medium wooden bead onto the wire. Twist the ends of the wire together. Use wire cutters to trim the wire and bend the twisted portion of the wire between the beads. Paint the beads with Carbon Black.
13. Cut four pieces of the same craft wire 8" long. Hold all four pieces together and bend the wires in the middle. Wrap the wires around the linked beads between the two beads. Spread out the wires to make spider legs.

14. Add small green beads onto the spider legs until only 1/4" of wire is left exposed. Bend the wire back towards the beads to keep the beads in place.
15. Using E6000 Glue, adhere the spider to the canvas on the spider web according to package instructions.
