    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

I'm working with the Tall 5-Tier Shelf By Recollections, which was purchased from Michaels. These shelves come unassembled, which makes painting much easier.

    1. Take all parts out of the box and lay the shelves out from biggest to smallest. (These are ladder-style shelves, so the biggest shelf will go on the bottom rung, and the shelves will get progressively smaller until you reach the top.) Find the center point on each shelf using a tape measure and mark it with a pencil.
    2. Use painter's tape to create a large triangle on one side of each shelf. (Each triangle should extend from the corners of the shelf to the center point you marked.) About 1" or 2" inside that triangle, make a second triangle. Cut any overlapping areas of tape carefully with a craft knife.
    3. Instruction #2
    4. On the top, middle, and bottom shelves, paint the triangle areas using Dark Denim. Paint the border areas using Antique Bronze. While the paint is still wet, carefully peel off the painter's tape to ensure you have crisp lines.
    5. Instruction #3
    6. On the two remaining shelves, paint the triangle areas using Antique Bronze. Paint the border areas using Dark Denim.
    7. Instruction #4
    8. Re-apply the painter's tape and paint additional coats as needed for an opaque finish.
    9. Repeat the previous steps on the other side of each shelf to mirror the design. Let dry.
    10. Instruction #6
    11. Once the shelves are completely dry, assemble them and style them as desired.
