SUPPLIES

    • liner brush
    • toothpicks
    • soft bristle, full brush
    • painter's or masking tape
    • clear glass vase
    • soft bristle liner brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Print off the pattern; place inside the vase, printed side out, and secure with painter’s or masking tape.
    2. Outline the tulip petals, stems and leaves with Black and a liner brush.
    3. Paint the tulips by using soft bristle, full brush. Dip the brush generously into the paint and softly move the paint around, covering to all edges. The larger tulips are painted Red. The smaller tulips are painted Yellow. Let dry completely.
    4. After the Yellow tulips dry thoroughly, using a soft liner brush, brush on Orange from the base of the petal to about halfway up each petal.
    5. Paint leaves by using a soft bristle, full brush. Dip the brush generously into the paint and brush onto the leaves. (For texture, brush by pressing down to leave slighter darker lines.) The larger leaves are painted Green. (Darker lines can be made throughout the leaves by mixing Green and Black 1:1.) The smaller leaves are painted with Green/Yellow mix. (Darker lines can be made throughout leaves by using Green.)
    6. Outline the butterflies with a liner brush and Black.
    7. Using the point of a toothpick (or, for larger dots, the end of a chopstick), paint dots on the butterfly wings by dipping the point into Blue and lightly dotting vase. Let dry.
    8. After the dots are thoroughly dry, lightly brush Blue on the butterflies with a soft bristle brush.
    9. For a more defined, bolder border, trace the images with Black when finished painting color.
