  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • 1/2" flat brush

  • marquee letters ("FLY")

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Remove any light bulbs or hardware. Thoroughly clean the letter surfaces using glass cleaner.
  2. Paint each of the letters inside and out with two coats of Bittersweet.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Using a 1/2" flat brush, dry-brush a small amount of Black Tie onto the inside and outside of each letter to create shadows.
    Step 2 Example
  4. Dry-brush small amounts of Coastal Waters onto the inside and outside of each letter to give an oxidized metal look.
  5. Dry-brush a small amount of Chocolate (Metallic) onto the inside and outside of each letter to give it a look of metal.
  6. Insert the globes and lights according to the package instructions.
    Step 5 Example

Only put tiny amounts of paint onto the brush and tap off excess before dry-brushing on the paint. Try to create a random pattern with the paint to give an aged look.
