Fluid Art | Pumpkin Canvas Painting

This pumpkin canvas painting uses paint pouring to make one-of-a-kind fall décor.
SUPPLIES
- palette knife
- heavy cardstock
- 16" x 20" Canvas
- disposable gloves
- disposable cups
- wire rack
- plastic tablecloth
- aluminum foil pan
- 3/0 Liner Brush
- 3/4" Oval Brush
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cover your work area with the plastic tablecloth. Place several plastic cups in the aluminum pan. The canvas frame will rest on the cups. You can use any size canvas for this project. I used 16" x 20".
- For this project, I used the Groovy Gold Fluid Art Ready to Pour Paint Pack. With the colors Pink, Coral, Fuchsia and Gold Metallic.
- Basecoat the canvas in Gold Metallic. Move canvas around until the paint has covered the canvas. (TIP: spread out the paint with your hand, a piece of card stock or a palette knife to use less paint and a quicker process.)
- While tilting the cup slightly, layer the Pink, Coral and Fuchsia paints into a disposable cup.
- Begin pouring the cup in a circular motion onto the canvas. Refill cup with different layer combinations and pour other circular shapes.
- While holding over the aluminum pan, move canvas around to spread the paint/design. When you are pleased with the design, lay the canvas frame on the cups, in the aluminum tray and allow to remain flat until completely dry.
- Using the liner brush and Light Buttermilk Americana Acrylic, paint a loose shape of a pumpkin around the most interesting part of your paint pour.
- Using an oval brush, paint the outer perimeter of the pumpkin with the Light Buttermilk. Allow to dry. Apply second coat if desired.
- This is a fun and artistic way to make a DIY decor piece for fall. And a great way to upcycle those paint pours that didn't make the cut!
