SUPPLIES
- water container
- paper towels
- scissors
- painter's tape
- liner brush
- soft bristle, full brush
- rectangular glass vase
- soft bristle, thin brush
INSTRUCTIONS
- Print off the pattern and cut it to fit inside of the vase. Place the pattern inside vase, taping with painter’s tape to hold into place.
- Using a liner brush, outline the fireplace, bricks, logs, and fireplace interior in Black Tie. Outline the fire using Lipstick and alternate with a small amount of School Bus at the tips of the fire.
- Paint the top half of the mantle using Cocoa Bean and a soft bristle, full brush. (Fill in with a thick coat of paint.)
- With Cocoa Bean and a soft bristle brush, fill in the area inside of the bricks, framing the interior of the fireplace with a thick coat of paint.
- Paint the bottom half of the mantle using Coffee Bean and a soft bristle, full brush. (Fill in with a thick coat of paint.)
- With Coffee Bean and a soft bristle brush, fill in the fireplace hearth with a thick coat of paint.
- Alternating between Red Barn and Paprika, paint bricks with a thick coat of paint using a soft bristle brush. Fill in the grout around the bricks with Brown Sugar using a liner brush. (Dip brush generously into paint and lightly drag to cover all grouted areas.) Let dry.
- When brick is dry, use a liner brush to paint very small brick accents using Coffee Bean. (Few uneven, thin lines will start to resemble brick.)
- Paint the interior of fireplace using Steel Grey mixed with Vanilla Shake to make a light grey. Using a liner brush, start by painting with light grey in the middle of the fireplace, blending into Steel Grey on the outside of the lighter grey.
- Using Steel Grey mixed with Black Tie for dark grey, paint outside of the Steel Grey. (This will resemble light of fire in background.)
- Paint the floor of the fireplace with a thick coat of Black Tie.
- Alternating among Cocoa Bean, Coffee Bean, and Brown Sugar, paint the log with a liner brush. (This does not have to be perfect, just keep dipping generous amounts of paint and blend together somewhat to resemble log.) Let dry.
- When log is dry, using Black Tie, paint small, uneven lines with a liner brush for accents.
- For fire, use School Bus, Orange Sherbet, and Lipstick. Alternate colors, using a soft bristle, thin brush and paint rows from bottom to top with a very thin layer of paint. (It is easier to space rows and, when that is dry, to go back and fill in remaining rows. Thin paint will resemble fire when a candle is burning inside the vase.)
- Touch up outlines by using Black Tie and a liner brush.
