NOTE: Be sure to let paint dry thoroughly between coats.
Apply two coats of Carbon to both front and back sides of the wooden charger, letting dry between coats.
Using a 2" chip brush, dry-brush the charger with Shimmering Silver. (Work in a cross-hatching and with swirling motions.) Wipe off excess paint on a clean paper towel.
Working quickly (do not wait for Shimmering Silver to dry), immediately wipe off excess paint with damp paper towel, going in a circular motion. (This helps create texture and depth.)
Remember to paint the edges using the same technique. Let dry.
Mix together Carbon, Everlasting, and Shimmering Silver to create various shades of silver. Brush the various mixes onto the plate.
Immediately wipe excess paint with a damp paper towel, using a light circular motion. Let dry, then repeat on the front side of charger.
Using scissors or craft knife, carefully cut out printed images of choice. Be sure to cut away all of the background, cutting as close to the design as possible.
Apply the image to the front of the plate using Matte Decou-Page. Apply an additional layer of Decou-Page on top of the image.
Apply a desired varnish.
HELPFUL HINTS
Always start with a dry brush when dry-brushing.
When dry-brushing, remember that less is more! Use a light touch and work quickly. If you aren't satisfied with the look of the faux painting, you can always continue to add more layers of color for interest and depth. You can also always wipe off excess paint with a damp paper towel.
