Leaves of Fall Vase

A simple glass vase turns into a colorful fall candleholder with Americana® Gloss Enamels.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • rubbing alcohol
    • 1" painter's tape
    • 3/8" flat brush
    • #10/0 liner brush
    • glass vase
    • #12 round brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Clean the vase with rubbing alcohol and paper towels. Let dry completely.
    2. Print off the pattern and use 1" painter's tape to attach it to the inside of vase, with the pattern lines facing out.
    3. Using a #12 round brush, basecoat the leaves Bright Orange, Bright Yellow, Tuscan Red, and Dark Chocolate.

    5. Using a #10/0 liner brush, lightly paint Dark Chocolate on the stems and veins of the leaves; use White on the stems and veins as a highlight.

    7. Using a 3/8" flat brush and at least more than one color of paint, begin shading the leaves from the outside in. (Darker colors such as Tuscan Red and Dark Chocolate should be painted on the outer part of the leaves and lighter colors such as Bright Yellow and Bright Orange should be painted in the middle or vice versa. Use White to blend with and make lighter any of the colors used). Blend each color well before it begins to dry.
