INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
If using fake pumpkins, choose ones that are made out of soft plastic or foam, rather than hard plastic so cutting is easier.
- Gather and arrange your decorating supplies such as paints, brushes, plastic plants, glitter, fabric flowers, stencils, and other items on a table or bar cart. You will also need floral pins, a craft knife, and multiple sizes of styrofoam balls for your succulent topped pumpkins.
- Open paint jars for easy access, and place drop paper down where you will be painting.
- Choose paint colors that go well with your toppers and supplies.
- To make a succulent topped pumpkin, cut a wide circle in the top of your pumpkin, and clear anything inside.
- Paint the outside of your pumpkin with DecoArt Chalky Finish. Cut down a foam ball so that it fits snug inside your opening, and secure it with a little glue.
- Strip the stems and tags off of mini plastic succulents. After that, take a floral pin and wrap it around the bottom portion of each succulents, leaving one side sticking out.
- Going around in a spiral pattern, pin each succulent on to your foam ball so that you eventually have the look of a bouquet coming out of the top.
- Fill in any gaps, making sure there are no open spaces.
- To make a weathered/vintage pumpkin, paint in sweeping up and down motions, then follow with a dry paint brush to make "streaks" in the paint.
- You can paint pumpkins in all shapes and sizes.
- You can also attach florals or succulents on top of a painted pumpkin.
