SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • ruler
    • liner brush
    • disposable gloves
    • cardboard
    • #8 round brush
    • #4 round brush
    • iron
    • #6 round brush
    • burlap table runner
    • old dish towel
    • clothes hanger
    • handkerchief or clean white cloth
    • plastic plate

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Dampen the burlap table runner with water and slightly wring out.
    2. Lay the runner in a sink twisted and bunched up.
    3. Using Indian Turquoise, Gold Glitz, Burnt Sienna, and Bright Yellow, one at a time, pour the paint on a plastic plate, add water to thin, and stir well. Bend the plate slightly and pour each paint color onto the runner in sections. Repeat this process until all colors are used and the table runner is covered.
    4. Put on the disposable gloves and wring the excess paint and water out of the runner. (This will cause the colors to blend more.)
    5. Hang the runner outside on a clothes hanger and let dry for about an hour.
    6. Using a damp handkerchief or clean white cloth and an iron setting on medium-high, iron out the wrinkles on the runner.
    7. Lay the table runner on a flat surface and place an old dish towel underneath the area where you will be working. Create a 3” border at each end of the table runner by dabbing on Indian Turquoise with the #8 round brush.
    8. Cut out a template for both leaves using the cardboard.
    9. Lay one leaf template on the runner and use the #4 round brush (for the small leaf) and the #6 round brush (for the larger leaf) to go around the leaf with Pottery Brown. Remove the template and fill in the leaf by dabbing on Cadmium Yellow, Indian Turquoise, and Pottery Brown. Add five leaves to each end of the table runner.
    10. Add stems to the leaves using the liner brush and Pottery Brown.
    11. Allow to air-dry for 48 hours.
    12. To set the leaf color, iron the table runner using a damp handkerchief or clean white cloth and an iron set on medium/high.
