Frame Turned Serving Tray with Etched Glass

Turn a picture frame and drawer pulls into an elegantly etched tray with Easy Etch™ Glass Etching Cream.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • paper towels
    • rubbing alcohol
    • painter's tape
    • 3" chip brush
    • rubber gloves
    • ballpoint pen
    • drill and small drill bit
    • wooden frame
    • E6000 Glue
    • needle nose pliers
    • safety glasses
    • drawer handles

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Remove the hardware, picture, and glass from the wooden frame. (Use needle nose pliers, if necessary.)

    3. Wipe the frame with a damp paper towel. Paint with one to two coats of Everlasting, allowing to dry completely between coats. Once dry, apply a coat of Light Satin Varnish to the frame.

    5. Paint the underside of the picture that was in the frame with a coat of Vintage. Set aside to dry.

    7. Wipe the glass surface with rubbing alcohol and let dry. Position the Patio Paint Home & Garden Reusable Botanical Garden and Flying Friends Stick-On Stencils on the glass as desired.

    9. Put on protective gear, such as safety glasses and rubber gloves. Use a palette or plastic knife to apply a thick coat of Easy Etch Glass Etching Cream onto the stencils. Wait 15 minutes and carefully scoop up the Easy Etch and return it to the container. With protective gear still on, rinse the glass carefully; remove the stencils; and rinse again.

    11. Place a piece of painter's tape across one of the handles. Mark the screw hole centers with a pen.

    13. Place the tape on the frame where the handles will be mounted. Drill pilot holes at the markings. Re-assemble the glass, the painted picture, and the backing. If desired, use E6000 Glue to adhere the edges of the picture backing in place.

    15. Attach the handles onto the frame through drilled holes.
