DIY Pallet "To Do" List Organizer

  • sandpaper
  • painter's tape (or spray adhesive)
  • 2" chip brush
  • 1" flat brush
  • small fine tip detailing
  • clothespins (mini; 3)
  • E6000 Glue
  • wooden plaques (mini; 3)
  • 1" stencil brush
  • sawtooth picture hanger
  • scrap wood
  • fine tip applicator


NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Paint the piece of scrap wood with one to two coats of Yesteryear with a 2" chip brush. Allow paint to dry completely between coats.
    Step 0 Example
  2. Use a spray adhesive or painter's tape to position the Americana Decor Distressed Harlequin Stencil. Once positioned, apply a light coat of Refreshing. Carefully lift the stencil while the paint is still wet. Let dry. Once dry reposition the stencil and repeat as many times as needed to cover the scrap wood surface. Let dry. Once dry, sand the surface to distress if desired.

  3. Optional: Seal the wooden surface with Ultra-Matte Varnish.
  4. Paint the three mini wooden plaques with Black Chalkboard Paint. Apply the first coat in one direction. Allow to dry completely and apply the second coat perpendicular to the first. Let dry. Once dry, prepare the plaque surfaces by rubbing them with a piece of chalk sideways.
    Step 3 Example
  5. Attach a fine tip applicator to the bottle of Yesteryear. Free-hand "Today", "Soon", and "Someday" on each of the plaques. (Or you can write the wording with chalk.)
    Step 4 Example
  6. Paint the three mini clothespins with one to two coats of Refreshing. Let dry. Once dry, distress. (Optional: Seal clothespins with Ultra-Matte Varnish.)
    Step 5 Example
  7. Attach a sawtooth picture hanger to the back of the scrap wood with E6000 Glue.
  8. Using E6000 Glue, attach the plaques and clothespins to the scrap wood according to package instructions.
