Bring a fresh look to an old table with Americana Decor® Matte Metallics™.
SUPPLIES
- 2" chip brush
- soft cloth or old T-shirt
- craft knife
- clean cloth
- table
- medium round brush
- makeup sponge
- masking tape
INSTRUCTIONS
- Find an old table that needs a makeover. Wipe down the table to remove any dirt or oil. (NOTE: No need to sand before painting.)
- With a medium round brush, paint the entire surface of the table, excluding the top, with Romance. Allow to dry.
- Paint on a second coat and allow to dry completely.
- Mask off stripes of any width on the top of the table. (I did not measure spacing; just placed tape where I wanted the stripes to be.)
- Paint alternating lines on the table top with Carbon and a medium round brush. Allow to dry.
- Paint on second coat of for even coverage. Remove the tape.
- Allow to dry completely.
- Mask off the Carbon stripes and begin to paint alternating lines using Lace. Allow to dry. Apply a second coat for even coverage.
- Remove the tape and allow to dry.
- Mask off each table leg with masking tape approximately halfway up. With a makeup sponge, dab on Gold to create a faux "dipped" metallic leg. Allow to dry.
- Dab Gold around the trim of the table. Allow to dry.
- Paint Gold with a medium round brush onto the previously dabbed areas. Apply an even coverage and allow to dry.
- Remove the masking tape. (Tip: For a clean line, score the line along the edge of the tape with a craft knife before removal.)
- With a 2" chip brush, drag Keepsake across the Romance-painted surface.
- Leave some of the Romance paint peeking through for a textured look.
- Allow the paint to dry completely. With a clean, soft cloth (a piece of old t-shirt works perfectly), apply Clear Crème Wax. Allow to dry and buff with another clean piece of soft cloth. (Applying Crème Wax allows for a sturdier, fingerprint free table.)
- Enjoy.
