SUPPLIES

Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™ Paint

  • Carbon (ADC29)
  • Whisper (ADC03)

Americana Decor® Crème Waxes

  • Clear (ADM01)

Americana® Decou-Page™

  • Satin Decou-Page (DS114)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • paper towels
  • ruler
  • pencil
  • lint-free cloth
  • 2" foam brush
  • craft knife (or hook)
  • wooden board (1" x 8')
  • foam roller brush
  • hand-sander (or sandpaper)
  • vinyl sticker (or stencil; numbers; of choice)

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Sand the 1" x 8' wooden board with a hand-sander or sandpaper until smooth.

  2. Paint the board with two coats of Carbon with a foam roller. Let dry completely between coats.

  3. Use a ruler to apply a vinyl sticker/stencil of your choice on the board.

  4. After the vinyl lines are in place, apply the vinyl numbers of your choice. Measure and mark the spots with a pencil so they align correctly.

  5. Apply a generous amount of Americana Satin Decou-Page with a foam brush over the vinyl stencil. Let dry.

  6. After the Decou-Page has dried, apply three to four thin coats of Whisper. Allow to dry completely between coats.

  7. After the paint is dry, remove the vinyl stencil, using a craft knife or hook to lift gently.

  8. Lightly hand-sand over the entire board, paying special attention to the edges and corners. Wipe off any excess dust with a paper towel.

  9. Coat the entire board with Clear Crème Wax with a lint-free rag. Let dry. After the wax has dried, buff the entire board with a clean cloth.

HELPFUL HINTS

Paint multiple thin coats.

Use Decou-Page to seal the stencil and prevent paint from bleeding underneath.
