    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

A large foam core board is perfect for this project. A tri-fold board is even better, so you can use the smaller sides for the hand held props.

    1. Make the circle on the foam core for the opening of the snow globe by placing a pencil where you want the center to be. Tie a string or yarn to the pencil and stretch it out where there is a 2" border on each side and a space of about 5" at the top. Tie another pencil at that length. Draw the circle by moving the outer pencil around the diameter. (See photo.)
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Take the pencil out and touch up shape if needed. Draw the base of the snow globe, leaving around 3" to 4" at the bottom.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Print out and trace the provided bow pattern on the top of the snow globe. (Or hand-draw.)
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Cut out the bow shape on top with an X-Acto knife. Optional: Cut out the center of the snow globe after drawing on a blanket of snow at the bottom of the round shape.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Hint: Leave the cut out of the center attached with masking tape to give the shape stability while you paint. (Or you can leave uncut and cut out the center when painting is complete.)
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Tape off stripes with masking tape for the background of the snow globe. Draw lines on with a pencil and remove the tape.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Paint the alternating lines using a flat brush with Santa Red and Hauser Light Green.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Paint the base of snow globe with Bubblegum Pink.
    16. Instruction #8
    17. Add highlights onto the snow globe base by mixing a small amount of Snow White into some Bubblegum Pink. Use a flat brush to paint the mix onto the center and the sides of the snow globe base. Allow to dry.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. Using the "Let It Snow" pattern provided, trace or draw on the words and the diamond star shapes with a light color pencil. Basecoat the diamond stars with Snow White and allow to dry. With a liner brush, paint the diamond stars with Cadmium Yellow.
    20. Instruction #10
    21. With a palette knife, lay on Snow-Tex in the area of the snow blanket in the snow globe. Allow to dry completely.
    22. Instruction #11
    23. Using a liner brush, paint "Let It Snow", the lines of the stripes, and the outline of the bow with Holly Green.
    24. Instruction #12
    25. Paint the bow with Santa Red. Allow to dry. Add a second coat, if needed, for complete coverage. Let dry.
    26. Instruction #13
    27. Using a small flat brush, outline the globe using Bahama Blue.
    28. Instruction #14
    29. Paint the snow blanket with Clear Ice Comet. Allow to dry.
    30. Instruction #15
    31. Print off and cut out the snowflake shapes (5 of them).
    32. Instruction #16
    33. Trace the snowflake patterns onto the foam core board with a light color pencil. Allow some to run off the edge of the board for visual interest.
    34. Instruction #17
    35. Paint the snowflakes Snow White and allow to dry. Paint each snowflake with Clear Ice Comet.
    36. Instruction #18
    37. Paint Red Nebula onto the bow.
    38. Instruction #19
    39. To create hand-held props, use the provided patterns to draw or trace shapes onto foam core board. Paint the Santa hat prop with Indian Turquoise, Santa Red, Jadeite Glass, Bubblegum Pink, Bahama Blue, Holly Green, Cadmium Yellow, and Hauser Light Green onto the stripes. Use a liner brush to paint the "2020" text with Bahama Blue. Allow to dry.
    40. Instruction #20
    41. For the gift box prop, paint the bow and flowers with Santa Red. For the greenery, paint with Holly Green. For the background, paint with Bahama Blue and Indian Turquoise. Allow to dry.
    42. Instruction #21
    43. For the candy cane prop, paint alternating lines with Santa Red. Cut out all the props using an X-Acto knife.
    44. Instruction #22
    45. To give a finished look, continue the paint colors onto the sides. Allow to dry. Optional: Glue large craft sticks to the backs of the props.
    46. Instruction #23
    47. For embellishments, glue pre-made pompoms and tassels (or make your own following the provided instructions) onto the Santa hat and the foam core board.
    48. Instruction #24
    49. Customize the props with your favorite colors or words.
    50. Instruction #25
