  • palette or plastic plate
  • sandpaper (fine grit)
  • scissors
  • small liner brush
  • 3/4" oval brush
  • freezer paper
  • palette knife
  • masking tape
  • pencil
  • medium and small flat brush
  • 3/4" clock movement kit (Michaels)
  • wooden round clock base (11") (Michaels)


NOTE: When using DecoArt Holographic Illusions and Texture Sand Paste, always use separate water containers for cleaning brushes and make sure to clean brushes very well between paints.

  1. Pick a round wooden clock face and a movement kit to fit.

  2. Gather the materials.

  3. Tape down freezer paper (shiny side up) to the work surface with masking tape. Open the clock movement kit and lay out the hands.

  4. Paint the hands and clock face with Snow White. Allow to dry.

  5. Lightly sand the surface of the wooden clock.
    Step 4 Example
  6. Draw a loosely-rounded shape for the "icing". Draw a donut center. (See photo.)

  7. Pour even amounts of Burnt Sienna, Dark Chocolate, Primary Yellow, and Snow White onto the palette or plate surface. Dip a brush into even amounts of each paint and mix.

  8. Paint the area of plain donut surface with the mix from STEP SEVEN. (See photo for placement.) Add a touch more Snow White to the mix and use new mix to paint the top portion of donut by the "icing" to give a highlight effect.

  9. Paint the bottom and the center "hole" areas with Bahama Blue on a flat brush. (This is the "plate".)

  10. With a flat brush, paint "icing" area with Carousel Pink. Allow to dry.

  11. Blend 1:1 mix of Texture Sand Paste and Carousel Pink. Use to paint onto "icing" area. Allow to dry.

  12. With a fan brush, paint on Dazzling Teal to the Bahama Blue areas. Clean brush.

  13. Paint on Fairy Pink to the Carousel Pink area on the donut clock. Allow to dry completely.

  14. Paint the clock hands with Texture Sand Paste and let dry. After drying, paint on Crystal Ball with a fan or small flat brush.

  15. On freezer paper, pour out a puddle each of Chartreuse and Bright Yellow.

  16. With a palette knife, spread out the paints to a thin thickness. Allow to dry completely.

  17. When dry, peel the paint carefully off the freezer paper.

  18. Cut the paint skins into "sprinkle" shapes.

  19. With a small liner brush, dab on Gloss Decou-Page to the back of each "sprinkle" and stick to the clock face surface. Allow to dry.

  20. Follow the directions on the clock movement kit to assemble.

  21. Hang on the wall to enjoy sweets any time of the day.
