Chabby Chic Distressed Dresser with Birds

Stencils with Americana Decor Chalky Finishes can be one of the easiest ways to add interest to your furniture pieces.

SUPPLIES

    • soft cloth
    • pencil
    • flat brush
    • painter's tape
    • dresser
    • stencil brush
    • hand-sander

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Paint dresser in white with a flat brush and allow it to dry. Sand edges of drawers, knobs and sides of dresser with the sand paper and sander. Sand top of dresser until the wood shows through under the paint. Wipe down the surface to remove any dust.

    3. Plan the placement of the stencil by lightly penciling the design until you are satisfied with it. You can also flip the stencil over for a reversed image. If needed, refer to the final image for placement of stencils.

    5. If needed, use painter's tape to hold the stencil in place while painting. To make it easier to stencil, you may also want to remove the knobs temporarily. Replace the stencil over the penciled areas and use a stencil brush to apply tan paint. If needed, erase any extra pencil marks and touch up any areas where the stencil bled.

    7. After the stencil is dry, seal with the clear wax and buff with a soft cloth.
