    NOTES:

For this project, I wanted to pick an object that is not typically used for an ornament. It could be any everyday object that is made from a smooth, glazed, white ceramic. I chose a small piggy bank to decorate with Delftware-inspired color and design.

    1. Remove any stickers and wipe down the surface with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Plan the general placement of shapes on the piggy bank. Working on one design at a time, draw the outer line of the shape with a Blue Glass Paint Marker. (TIP: Be sure to prime the marker to bring the paint down into the tip by pumping onto a clean, dry surface. Continue to shake and pump through out the time of use.)
    4. Instruction #2
    5. While the outline is still wet, place a finger on the line and drag the paint down. (See photo.) Repeat if the line dries too fast. Go over the outer line again to have a crisp drawing.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Draw or paint on details to the design. Have fun with the shapes and designs you use. Don't be afraid to doodle. (I have provided some inspirational shapes in the pattern section.)
    8. Instruction #4
    9. This technique is very forgiving. The lines don't have to be super straight, and the technique makes an overall visually appealing look. You can mix and match floral, organic shapes, animals, scallops, lines, and dots.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Thread ribbon or string through the slot to have a hanger for the ornament. Use as an ornament every year or give as a gift for that special someone to use as a piggy bank. Personalize the project with a name, initial, or the year.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Try making some other DIY ornament projects to have a colorful, eclectic tree or give personalized gifts to everyone on your list.
    14. Instruction #7
