  • 1/2" flat brush
  • wood glue
  • wooden blocks
  • wooden plaque (4; 4" each)
  • drill gun
  • drill bits
  • doorknobs (4)
  • wooden overlays (4; laser-cut)
  • hanging hooks (4)

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Paint the wooden block and laser-cut wooden overlays in appropriate colors. Shown: Peach Silk (overlay) and Pistachio Mint (plaque); Chick (overlay) and Sea Glass (plaque); Sea Glass (overlay) and Peach Silk (plaque); and Pistachio Mint (overlay) and Chick (plaque).
  2. Using sandpaper in circular motions, distress all the plaques and overlays with concentration on edges to let the wood show through.
  3. Glue the overlay on top of the wooden block, making sure it is centered.
  4. While plaques are drying, paint the doorknobs in Almond. (This may take several coats.) Set aside to dry.
  5. Once the wooden block glue has dried, use a ruler and pencil to find and mark the center. Using a drill gun, drill a hole all the way through the block. (Be careful that you have something underneath so no damage will be done to the work surface.) A screw will be provided in the knob package; choose a drill bit according to that screw size.
  6. Put the screw through the hole (with thread sticking out the side where the knob will be placed). Screw the knob on tightly.
  7. Attach a hook on the back of the hook for hanging.
