    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Using the 1" flat brush, paint the edge of the canvas face Vermilion. Without washing the brush, load with Hansa Yellow Medium and paint the center of the canvas all the way to the Vermilion paint and make the two colors blend.
    2. Paint the bubble wrap with the 1/2" flat brush and Vermillion. Stamp with it randomly on the canvas. Do the same with Hansa Yellow Medium.
    3. Instruction #2
    4. Stamp with the flowers stamp at the bottom of the canvas using the brown stamp pad. (My stamp had several flowers. If yours doesn't, stamp individual flowers side-by-side.)
    5. Instruction #3
    6. Mix (4) parts White Modeling Paste with (1) part Burnt Umber using the palette knife. Stencil with mix and the handwritten stencil in a few places. (Keep it close to the edge so it doesn't interfere with the little girl.)
    7. Instruction #4
    8. Find pictures online that you would like to decoupage. (I found a paper doll and blew up just the head to 6-1/2" tall. I found a cupcake and enlarged it to be a hat (3-1/2" tall). I drew the body.)
    9. Lay out the cupcake, head, and the pattern for the body for placement on the canvas.
    10. Use Americana Matte Decou-Page and the 1/2" flat brush to stick down the head and then the cupcake.
    11. Trace the pattern onto tracing paper and tape it to the canvas with painter's tape. Slip transfer paper under the tracing paper and use a pencil to transfer the body drawing to the canvas.
    12. Instruction #8
    13. Fill in the dress using a mix of (3) parts Quinacridone Violet and (1) part Titanium White and the #2 round brush. Use this same mix to paint scallops around the edge of the face of the canvas. Get a tiny bit of Vermilion on the unwashed brush and add some lines to the skirt and some shading to the dress. Wash the brush and mix Quinacridone Violet with a hint of Titanium White and fill in the shoes. Now get a tiny bit of Primary Magenta on your brush and shade the dress on the edges randomly.
    14. Instruction #9
    15. As seen in previous photo, add stripes to the stockings with the #2 round brush and Titanium White. Make a mix of 1 part Carbon Black to 2 parts Titanium White and add the darker stripes. Also use a mixture of 1 part Quinacridone Violet to one part Titanium White and fill in the belt and collar detail with the #2 round brush. Put some of this color in the scallops to add shading.
    16. Make a mixture of 3 parts Titanium White to 1 part Hansa Yellow Medium and go around the whole girl with the #2 round brush smudging with your finger as you go to create a halo effect.
    17. Using tracing paper, cut out the dress shape so you can stamp the bees on the dress without getting them on the background. Stamp the dress randomly with the 2 sizes of bees and the brown stamp pad. Stamp one bee up by the cupcake.
    18. Instruction #12
    19. Outline the girl's body with Carbon Black and the #2 liner brush. Make a dotted line around the cupcake and the girl's head.
    20. Mix a pale Purple with 1 part Qunacridone Violet and 4 parts Titanium White. Paint some circles and spirals on the dress with the #2 round brush.
    21. Using the 1/2" flat brush and Burnt Umber, paint around the top edge of the canvas and rub with your finger and wipe most of the paint off and dry brush around the edge.
    22. Using Carbon Black and the #2 liner brush, Paint some loose flowers randomly on the canvas. I did 3. Outline the scallops.
    23. Add some highlights to the artwork with the #2 round brush and Cobalt Teal. Do the same with Quinacridone Violet mixed with a little Titanium White and Vermilion. Stamp some circles with the bottom of a pencil eraser topper and Vermilion. Paint some randoms dots with the #2 liner brush.
    24. Paint the sides of the canvas with the 1" flat brush and Vermilion.
