  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • tracing paper
  • transfer paper
  • pencil
  • #3 round brush
  • 3/4" flat brush
  • #10 flat brush
  • mailbox-shaped wooden birdhouse

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Trace and transfer the fence onto all four sides of the birdhouse using a pencil and the tracing and transfer papers.
  2. Use the 3/4" flat brush and Bahama Blue to paint the rounded top.
  3. Use the #10 flat brush and Snow White to paint the fence on all sides, the front rim, and the perch.
  4. Use the #10 flat brush and Purple Cow to paint the front and back areas above the fence.
  5. Use the #10 flat brush and Burnt Umber to paint the back post.
  6. Use the 3/4" flat brush with Grey Sky to paint the front stoop.
  7. Use the #3 round brush and Grey Sky to outline the fence.
  8. Trace and transfer the remainder of the images.
  9. Use the #10 flat brush and Lamp Black to paint the welcome mat.
  10. Use the #3 round brush and Lamp Black to paint the clothesline and lines on the back post.
  11. Use the #10 flat brush and Bahama Blue to paint the front shutter.
  12. Use Citron Green with the #10 flat brush for grass and with the #3 round brush for the stems and grass patches.
  13. Use the #3 round brush to paint the flowers Purple Cow, Melon, and Primary Red. Fill the flower centers with Marigold.
  14. Use the #3 round brush and Snow White to paint "welcome" on the mat, details on the shutters, and the clothespins.
  15. Use the #3 round brush for clothes: shirt, Marigold; boxers, Snow White with Primary Red polka dots; pants, True Blue with Lamp Black details; socks, Citron Green with Lamp Black toes and heels; dress, Melon with Lamp Black polka dots; and long johns, Grey Sky with Primary Red stripes.
  16. Seal, if desired.
