Chalky Finish Chicken Wire Frame

Organize the day-to-day with a chicken wire frame created using Americana Decor Chalky Finishes.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • 2" flat brush
    • staple gun
    • 1/4" stencil brush
    • small wire cutters
    • staples
    • hand saw
    • chicken wire
    • safety gloves
    • safety glasses
    • wood boards
    • corner brace
    • propane torch
    • sawtooth hanger

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Using a hand or power saw, cut a 1" x 3" board into (2) 23" pieces and (2) 42" pieces. Sand any rough edges and spots. Wipe away any sanding dust with a paper towel.

    3. Paint all boards Treasure using a 2" flat brush.

    5. Sand the edges of the boards to distress. Wipe off all boards with a damp paper towel to remove any sanding dust.

    7. Lay out how the frame will be constructed. Place the Americana Dandelion Stencil on the frame as desired. Paint in Everlasting using a stencil brush. Carefully lift the stencil and let dry. Once dry, repeat the stenciling to cover the bottom edge.

    9. Sand the stenciled area to distress.

    11. Using a propane torch, discolor the corner braces. (Be sure to wear any necessary protective gear.) Let the braces cool completely before attempting to pick up.

    13. Attach each corner using the corner braces. Position so that (2) screws can go onto each board. The brace should be centered onto the 23" board.

    15. Using wire cutters, cut about 44" of 2' wide chicken wire.

    17. Using gloves, attach the chicken wire to the back of the frame with staples. Start on the center of one 23" side and pull tight as you go. Tuck in any sharp ends of the chicken wire.

    19. Attach (2) saw-tooth hangers on the top back piece for hanging.
