Remove cookie tin lid from tin and wipe with wet cloth. Let dry.
Using ruler, measure top of lid and mark halfway point with pencil or washable marker.
Lay strip of masking tape across middle of tin. (See photo: tin at left.) Make sure to firmly press down edges of tape down so paint can’t get underneath.
Using only vertical brushstrokes, paint one half of cookie tin lid. Let dry for one hour.
Paint second layer, this time using only horizontal brushstrokes. Let dry and cure for 24 hours.
Remove masking tape. If paint has seeped under masking tape, gently rub away with finger.
Lightly rub chalk over top of chalkboard and wipe off with wet cloth.
