INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Stuff the shoes with an old rag or paper towels to firm up the canvas area in the front of the shoes.
  2. Dab on Indian Turquoise and White onto the front of the shoe using the #8 round brush. Blend the colors slightly as you cover the shoe surface.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Dab on Cadmium Orange and White onto the sides of the shoe using the #8 round brush until all areas are covered.
    Step 2 Example
  4. Apply the flower patterns using a stylus and grey graphite paper. (I used the larger flower in the top area and one off to the side. And the smaller flower pattern is in the front toe area of the shoes.) Apply a mix of Cadmium Orange and White (almost a peach color) onto the flowers using the #4 round brush. Save mix for next step. Allow each flower to dry about 5 minutes.
    Step 3 Example
  5. Add a touch of Brown to some the Cadmium Orange/White mix and apply new mix to the veins and the stigma of the flowers using the #2 liner brush. Fill in the bulb of the stigma with the remaining Cadmium Orange/White mix.
    Step 4 Example
  6. Highlight the flowers and stigma using the #2 liner brush and White. Paint the trim of the shoe in two coats of Brown using the #4 round brush.
    Step 5 Example
  7. Add White dots by the flower stigma. Apply the word pattern, Aloha, using a stylus and the grey graphite paper. Fill in the word using the #2 liner brush and two coats of Brown. Add the highlights to the word using Indian Turquoise. Add White freehand swirls to the front of the shoes and Indian Turquoise swirls on the sides.
