Transfer on the pattern. Basecoat the snowman with Titan Buff.
Drybrush with Titanium White.
Drybrush or float the shading with Burnt Umber. Drybrush again with more Titanium White to brighten.
Basecoat the snowman hat, eyes and the birdhouse roof and hole with Carbon Black. Basecoat the birdhouse with Cerulean Blue. Shade with Prussian Blue. Drybrush with Titaninm White.
Basecoat the birds with Quinacridone Red. Shade with Quinacridone Red mixed with a touck of Prussian Blue. Highlight with Quinadridone Red mixed with Titanium White. Stroke in the wings and the tail feathers with Quinacridone tipped in Titanium White.
Bade the snowman nose and the birds beaks with Vermillion Hue.Highlight with Diarylide Yellow. Shade with Vermillion Hue mixed with Quinacridone Red.
Basecoat the background with Dioxazine Purple. Blend in some Quinacridone Violet, Titanium White and Prussian Blue. Darked the canvas corners and around the snowman with more Prussian Blue.
Drybrush the cheeks with Quinacridone Red mixed with Titanium White and Extender. Drybrush the hat with Titanium White. Line the snowman eyes with Titanium White. Dot the Birds eyes with Titanium White, then with Carbon Black. Line the snowman arms and branches with Burnt Umber tipped in Carbon Black. Highlight with Brunt Umber tipped in Titan Buff. outline the entire design with Carbon Black if desired.
Tap in the greenery with the chisel edge of the brush loaded with Pthalo Green-Yellow tipped in Titanium White.
Basecoat the snow on the bottom of the canvas with Gesso. Add texture for all the snow with a palette knife and Titanium White Mixed 1:1 with Texture Medium. Drybrush the snowflake with Cerulean Blue mixed with Titanium White and Extender. Line and dot the snowflakes and HOME with Titanium White.
Line plaid on the hat with Titanium White. Spatter the background with Titanium White.
HELPFUL HINTS
Use Gesso to clean up edges. Water down the paint to an ink-like consistency when using the liner brush.
