Decoupage scrapbook paper onto a recipe box for a colorful home for recipes.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • scissors
    • ruler
    • wooden box
    • sponge applicator
    • #12 flat brush
    • glue
    • 120-grit sandpaper
    • scrapbook paper
    • white and black gel ink pens
    • chalk ink (color of choice)

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Measure the scrapbook papers to fit all sides of the box/container.
    2. Using a #12 flat brush, apply Americana Matte or Gloss Decou-Page to the box and place papers on the front and back of the box. Smooth well with hands. (Don't worry if edges overhang edges of box.) Let dry (about 30 minutes).
    3. Sand the edges of the box until smooth. (This will prevent dog-earring of the decoupaged paper.)
    4. Apply scrapbook paper to the top of the box. Let dry and repeat, as in steps 2 and 3.
    5. After all edges have been sanded, dab chalk ink around all the edges with a sponge applicator.
    6. Once edges have been inked, follow patterns to make birds, branch, and leaves. (Be creative and use different colors and patterns for wings and tails.)
    7. Use the gel ink pens to detail birds' eyes and leaves.
    8. To create flowers, cut or punch them out of the scrapbook paper or use die-cut flowers.
    9. Glue birds, branches, and leaves onto the box, smoothing them until they're flat.
    10. Seal the entire box with Decou-Page.
