    • stencil brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Wash the tote bags according to SoSoft package instructions.
    2. Create each beach bag saying and save in its own file. (Be sure the saying is in reverse so it will print backwards on the iron-on transfer paper.) Trim the excess paper away from the edges leaving at least a 1/2" margin around the outside.
    3. Instruction #2
    4. Iron each bag to remove all wrinkles.
    5. Instruction #3
    6. Iron on the saying according to the transfer sheet instructions. Peel the backing from the transfer sheet to expose the wording.
    7. Instruction #4
    8. Use a palette or plastic plate to mix a quarter-size dollop of Tangerine and Christmas Red together. Add a touch of White to lighten the color, if needed.
    9. Instruction #5
    10. Place the starfish or stencil of choice onto the beach bag. Stencil on the paint with the driest brush possible by dipping just the tip of the brush into the paint and tapping off the excess onto a paper towel. Hold the stencil in place and gently swirl the flat brush onto the fabric. Carefully pick up the stencil and move it to the next section.
    11. Instruction #6
    12. Continue the stenciling around the wording. Use a piece of paper or painter's tape to cover any areas or words to protect them from paint. Repeat the stenciling with White and Indian Turquoise.
    13. Instruction #7
    14. Optional: Heat-set the paint with the iron. (Do not use a hot iron on the transferred areas.)
