Distressed Headboard With Baroque Design

Layering colors and distressing a stenciled image gives this flea market headboard new life.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- sandpaper
- painter's tape
- 2" chip brush
- 5/8" stencil brush
- petroleum jelly
- wooden headboard
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Using 2" chip brush, basecoat entire headboard Vintage.
- With finger, spread petroleum jelly in areas you’d like base color (Vintage) to show through.
- Using 2" chip brush, coat entire headboard with Serene.
- Using sandpaper, distress areas where you placed petroleum jelly. (It will appear darker in these areas.)
- Place and center stencil; tape into place with painter's tape; and lightly dab on Relic with stencil brush. When finished, remove stencil.
- Lightly sand over stenciled design.
- Seal with your choice of either a Americana® Decor™ Crème Wax or a Americana® Decor™ Varnish.
