No prize substitution or cash redemption allowed by winner(s). Prize(s) are not transferable. Taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize with a similar prize of equal or greater value due to prize unavailability. Prize winner(s) may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within seven (7) days of date notice sent or prize will be forfeited. Unclaimed prizes may not be awarded. One prize per person per Challenge. All warranties for prizes are hereby disclaimed, and the winner will accept the prize “as is.” Prizes cannot be assigned, transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for cash.


HOW TO ENTER: To enter the DecoArt Flag Painting Challenge, email the following photos to

  • At least ONE process photo showing the DecoArt product in use.
  • At least ONE final, high-resolution photo of your flag themed project.


Project Requirements: Projects must contain key elements found in the American flag including stars and stripes. While the colors should be close to the traditional red, white, and blue, feel free to show creativity in regards to the shades of the colors selected and any antiquing/finishing techniques. This contest is open to ALL surfaces under the sun (or flag), including but not limited to:

  • Canvas
  • Furniture
  • Home décor
  • Glass
  • Clothing/textiles
  • Jewelry

Design Challenge entries will be received starting at 8 am (EDT) on May 8, 2019, and ending at 11:59 pm (EDT) June 14, 2019.

HOW DO I WIN? From all eligible entries received, the DecoArt will select a single winner based on the following Judging Criteria in its sole discretion. The decision of the DecoArt Team is final.

Judging Criteria:
  • 50% Creativity of painted project
  • 30% Final photo
  • 20% Process photo

The entry receiving the highest overall score will win. In the event of a tie, the winner and runner up will be selected by DecoArt’s Vice President of Marketing & Product Development through his own application of the Judging Criteria.

HOW IS A WINNER NOTIFIED? The winner and runner up will be notified by e-mail within ONE day after the DecoArt Team has made its selection. If the winner declines to accept, cannot be reached or does not acknowledge notification within seven days of the first attempt, the winner will be disqualified and the Sponsor may elect, at its own discretion, to award the Grand Prize to the runner up and to select an alternate runner up to receive the Runner Up prize based on the Judging Criteria. If the runner up declines to accept, cannot be reached or does not acknowledge notification within seven days of the first attempt, the runner up will be disqualified and the Sponsor may elect, at its own discretion, to award the Runner Up prize to an alternate runner up selected based on the Judging Criteria.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Each Design Challenge is only open to residents of the United States, who have Internet access and who are age 18 and older when an entry is submitted. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Residents of Vermont may not participate. Employees of DecoArt and its affiliates, its dealers, its judging organization, manufacturers or distributors of DecoArt materials and their immediate families in the same household are not eligible. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents and grandchildren, and any other person residing at the same household whether or not related. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, will determine the eligibility of any Entrant. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. This promotion is intended for viewing in the United States only and shall only be construed and evaluated according to Kentucky law. You are not authorized to participate in the Design Challenge if you are not located within the United States.

All Internet access and usage charges are the responsibility of the entrant. If for any reason the Internet portion of the Design Challenge is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Challenge, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to terminate, modify or suspend the Challenge.

Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web-site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in any Challenge. In the event of a dispute, eligible electronic entries will be considered made by authorized account owner of the email address submitted at the time of entry. Entries generated by robots or scripts are considered to be a direct violation of Challenge policy and will result in immediate disqualification of any and all associated entries. Sponsor is not responsible for printing errors in these Official Rules. If any entry is made through a social media site such as Facebook or Instagram, the entrant acknowledges that (i) the Challenge is no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with such social media platforms (such as Facebook or Instagram) and (ii) information provided is being disclosed to Sponsor and not to such social media platform (such as Facebook). Entry must not have been entered in any other competition or violate the rights of other parties. Entry must not be offensive or defamatory, as determined by the DecoArt in its sole discretion.

RIGHTS TO MATERIAL SUBMITTED: You hereby grant to DecoArt a nonexclusive right to publish all materials submitted for this Challenge in print or online in whole or in part with or without attribution. Please retain a copy of your submission, including the photo, for your records; DecoArt will not be able to return your submission to you.

WINNERS’ LIST OR COPY OF OFFICIAL RULES: For a winners’ list or a copy of the Official Rules for a Challenge, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to DecoArt, Inc., P.O. Box 386, Stanford, Kentucky 40584 that identifies the Challenge by name and specifies whether you are requesting rules or winner information. Do not send entries to the above address.

DISPUTES: By participating, entrants release Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliated businesses, its advertising and promotion agencies, and any social media platform, and the officers, directors, employees and agents of each from any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described) for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with receipt, enjoyment, ownership or use of the prize, and winner grants permission to Sponsor to use winner’s name, age, city, state, photograph or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation or approval (where lawful). Each entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Challenge, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and any judicial proceeding shall take place in a federal or state court within the Commonwealth of Kentucky; (2) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of- pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Challenge, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, and consequential damages, and any other damages, other than for actual out-of- pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Challenge, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of the Commonwealth of Kentucky or any other jurisdiction), that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Sponsor reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time. Do not send entries to the above address. The Sponsor’s decisions regarding all aspects of any Challenge shall be final and binding.
