  • 36x64 Wrapped Canvas
  • Assorted Brushes

Instructions :

Apply black gesso to the surface.

Don’t forget the sides!

With a very large paintbrush, begin adding DecoArt colors. For this painting, I went side-to-side in the very front of the floor. And then top-to-bottom, paint white for a column and alternate colors as you choose in between columns.  It may not be exactly how your design will turn out in the end, but remember… it’s all about the layers of paint, so you can change it as you go.

Sketch or use DecoArt Graphite Transfer Paper to draw your image onto the black gesso background. You barely have to push and the image looks amazing.

Guess what? It comes in white too.

Optional: Redo sketched lines with permanent marker. This helps keep your pattern while adding layers of paints.

Randomly add colors of DecoArt Media Interference. Just have fun! That is the beauty of a painting like this one – there is no right or wrong. Adding Interference is amazing!

Time to add your Mega Crackle: DecoArt Weathered Wood and DecoArt Media Crackle Paint.  You can add it anywhere you like, but for sure you will want some on your columns and statues.

Here is a link to a DecoArt Media video to help you get great results.

I added various colors of paint so that the colors would show through like shadows. After the paint dries, apply DecoArt Media Antiquing Cream.

For the floor, set your painting upright and spray with DecoArt Media White Shimmer Mister. Using a brush – go from side to side – blending.

Take a wet wipe and gently use it to remove the white Mister where you think your doors and pathways could be.

Here is a view of how the painting looked at this point in the process. See – nothing spectacular at all – more layers of paint are coming!

To finish the floor, use Media Metallic Lustre and Metallic Fluid Acrylics colors.  Gently (I use my fingers), apply the paints to the white floor to enhance the pathways and shadows. Make your floor look rather like shiny marble… just random colors here and there.

Add more shimmering glitz and glam. Using your DecoArt Media Interference, as well as your Metallic Lustre, randomly add more colors.  You can be vivid or gently muted – make it suit your artsy design.

Varnish Your Creation with the DecoArt Media Varnish of your choice.

Here are a few close-ups of the finished gift!

Whichever door you choose and whatever hall you travel down… I wish you happy artsy fun along the way. Xj.

Oh, yes! Very cool! Love the sense of decay, mystique and futurism in your piece! Amazing, and could sit and stare for hours at this in a fine art gallery! Well done!

That painting is just out of this world, Joi! It reminds me of one of my favourite old masters - Pieter Saenredam. Same feel of perspective, same fantastic interpretation of impressive (and "sacred") architecture with us little humans inside. Love this to bits! Hugs, Claudia xxx
