Wendy Watson

Wendy M. Watson started her art "career" at the ripe old age of seven with a box of pastels from her grandmother. Art has always been a part of her life. Wendy often included "illustrations" with school reports and projects. Wendy obtained a degree in Theater and Costume Design from the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota. She was active in community theater and served on the founding board of S.T.A.G.E. (Spotlight Theater and Arts Group Etc.). Wendy discovered Decorative Painting in 1986 and has been addicted every since. She participated in Arts & Crafts shows and was a juried artist in Pennsylvania and West Virginia for fourteen years. Teaching became a priority when friends asked her to "show me how to do that". Wendy has been teaching for over twenty years. She currently owns "Wendy's Red Door, Painting Studio and Collectibles" teaching in the studio and several art conferences.

Wendy has been a DecoArt Helping Artist since the program was developed and uses the products exclusively for all original patterns and teaching projects. She has even been known to convert oils, watercolor and other acrylic designs into DecoArt colors. Wendy loves the Americana acrylic paints for their thick consistency, coverage, color selections and ease in prep. The paints have sealer in them, eliminating a step in prep - what is better than that!

Wendy is an active member of the Society of Decorative Painters and has served on the Board of Directors as Board Member at Large and President. She is currently the President of the Board of Trustees for the International Museum of the Society of Decorative Painters (IMSDP).
