Really show your shimmer this Halloween with this DIY Halloween sign with DecoArt Americana® Pearls™!

If you’re looking to branch out of the traditional Halloween colors of orange and black this holiday season, this pastel Halloween sign is for you! Not only is this sign a pretty shade of pink, it also has a dazzling effect with a pearlescent shimmer. Americana® Pearls™ comes in 10 gorgeous colors and allows artists to create a shimmering look on any project. It’s now available at Hobby Lobby!

If you want to think pink and prefer a much softer side this Halloween season, check out the full tutorial below.

Items needed:

  • Americana Pearls 2oz - Baby Pink
  • DecoArt Americana Décor Angle Brush
  • Wooden Pendant Sign
  • 1 Yard Black Loop Trim
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue
  • Twine
  • Scissors
  • Cricut Machine
  • Halloween Cricut Cut File
  • Black Adhesive Vinyl
  • Cutting Mat
  • Weeding Tool
  • Transfer Tape
  • Squeegee

Instructions:

Step 1: Add a coat of Americana® Pearls™ to the front and sides of the pennant.  Then, let it dry.

Step 2: Once the paint is completely dry, add a second coat to the pennant and let it dry.

Step 3: Click on the Cricut file link and resize it to fit your pennant. Then, run the vinyl through the Cricut to cut.

Step 4: Use a weeding tool to weed the negative, along with the small pieces inside of letters.

Step 5: Cut a piece of transfer tape slightly larger than your design and place it on top.  Use a squeegee all over the design. Then, slowly peel off the transfer tape. If any of the design comes up, simply place the transfer tape back down and go over it again with the squeegee.

Step 6: Place the design on the center of the pennant. Again, use the squeegee over the entire design. Then, slowly peel up on the transfer sheet. The design should remain on the pennant. If the design comes up, simply place the transfer tape back over the design and go over it again with the squeegee. Peel off the entire transfer sheet, leaving the design behind.

Step 7: Add hot glue to the top back of the pennant and the end of trim so just the loop part can be seen on the front. When you get to the corners, fold the trim in so it easily goes around. Continue adding glue to the back and adding the trim. When you get back to where you started, cut the trim.

Step 8: Add hot glue to the top left corner and place a piece of 12” twine (with knots tied on the ends) into the glue drop. Repeat on the other side of the pennant. Then, add another drop of glue on top of both pieces of twine to secure it.

I just love how this DIY pastel Halloween sign with DecoArt Americana Pearl Paint turned out!  This sign could also be used with the Dioxazine Purple Pearl Paint, or you could use Lamp Black and pink vinyl design for the reverse look!
